Why Are So Many MAGA Men, Fascinated by Fascism?
The mystique of the Nazi's, and appeal to white zealotry, power and control
Ever wonder why so many MAGA men appear fascinated - intrigued by what they may believe is the “mystique,” “power,” and “zealotry” of the Nazi regime? Perhaps it’s because they see men in control of everything and anything around them, and that is providing them a “much needed” testosterone boost, that is, by seeing people around them cower in fear. If that is the case, What if anything differentiates them from a psychotic killer roaming the streets? Those who preys upon the naive, vulnerable and weak?
Empty Heart & Soul
It seems quite clear, these “manly” misfits are empty inside. Devoid of meaning and purpose to do right by humanity, causing them to turn their attentions to an alternate purpose: inflicting pain. suffering and hurt upon others - aimlessly hoping to become relevant. For Musk it appears money, rockets, and sex with multiple women and almost a dozen progeny isn’t enough. Even admittedly dousing himself with the prescription painkiller ketamine, known for its hallucinogenic and visual disturbances doesn’t do it either.
He is an atheist and addict, dulling the internal pain of having no conscience and no soul. Why else would the richest man on earth be gleeful cutting livelihoods of others, and do bizarre antics: wearing sunglasses indoors, hoisting and waiving chainsaws like a rock-star, even shadow-banning pleas about the healthcare needs of his own children?
Sociopaths with No Soul
All of this leads me to ask an alarmingly obvious question, What could all these MAGA men be missing in their lives to align with soulless sociopaths like Musk and Trump? Perhaps, hate, vengeance and subjugation of others is necessary to fill that bottomless void - where usually a heart and soul resides.
And what about the Congressional Republicans who just voted to advance a budget resolution as demanded by their führer - exempting billionaires from paying a shred more in taxes, increasing the national debt four-trillion dollars, while cutting medicaid funding that would care for the sick and infirm. Looks like either these senators have no backbone, empathy or both; they don’t even advocate for the people who handed them their jobs - the people of the red states where they are from. It appears soulless sociopathy is contagious - leaving the electorate in ALL states, the ones that will have to fight back.
Human Tragedy Unfolding
There is nothing that says depravity more, than those trying to increase human suffering. Whether it’s firing people for no-damn-good reason, or giving government employees needless ultimatums just to show you’re in charge, or making someone’s life harder just to stroke your own ego. For those who take pleasure in another’s suffering, is at its most basic level, sadistic. We are now witnessing the face of “evil” promenading around our government.
Power, profit, and hate are abject motivators for some. As I have personally stared-down evil, I know the opportunistic nature of those who wield it, and what lengths they will go to keep it. Money and power are its drivers - their need for conquests is unyielding. Those that do evil have an insatiable desire to have it all - even wanting the crumbs you may have. And if you don’t turn it all over on demand, they will literally force it from your hand. Their belief is they are the true owners of everything, and everyone else is just a caretaker.
The Ultimate Plan
The goal of these disturbed individuals, is to decimate the hopes, dreams and aspirations of those they despise: subjugating, berating, and inundating them with lies. Cheating and conning is what they do best. After all is said and done to destroy the fate of others, they project an air of superiority, and smugness - knowing they have left an indelible mark. But what they fear most, is our unity of purpose and spirit - the sword of Damocles hanging over their heads - this is a powerful saving grace, that they cannot contend.
We must fight them economically, emotionally, spiritually - with everything we got. Red states, blue states, we must act as one. Economically by refusing to buy their wares, emotionally we tell our story, spiritually we pray for reprieve, and we throw ever legal hurdle at them - and never despair.
Our strength lies in our resolve, our faith, and our numbers.
We must always resist the temptation to fall in line - just as we must always draw attention to their maladies and crimes. We must fight in tandem with our partners, fervently condemning their actions. And soon, the whole nation and world will rise up. That’s how a concerted, mass movement will work, positioning the righteous to win.
Gaslighting Us About Their Nazi Salute
Almost everyday since Trump came to power, I see these similarities all around. Petty and vengeful men simulating the Nazi salute, then denying it is what it is, when it’s on videotape and covered in the news. First it was Musk, then Bannon, and even some obscure CEO, all of them doing this “salute” in public, then denying it was true. This is what gaslighting is, telling you didn’t see what you saw, even though the act itself left on you an indelible mark. I guess not much has changed since that infamous January 6, when they said it was “tourists” rushing to the Capitol, assaulting officers, scaling the walls, and erecting a gallow there on the front lawn.
In the end, these self-anointed MAGA Avengers, will fall prey to their own folly. We are not a nation of faint-at-heart snowflakes as they would like to believe, we are the children of those who fought and won wars. We are the children of children who built a nation out of nothing nearly 250 years ago. We are the children and children of those who escaped genocide and persecution. Americans don’t go quietly into the night, we fight hard and long with everything we’ve got. This too shall be no different.
Who We Are…
We are a nation of people who have known persecution and tragedy. But in recompense, our nation has given holocaust survivors and their children a chance to rebuild and thrive, a nation that once subjugated Blacks to slavery and indentured servitude - rightfully gave them a seat at the table. Gays who had been closeted for years were finally recognized as human, and women were eventually acknowledged as capable, capturing leadership roles in governance. And of course, we can’t forget the disabled, who had previously been ignored - they finally got to be heard a little over three decades ago in 1990, with the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed by then Republican president, George H. W. Bush.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Made Infamous Under Trump
Diversity Equity and Inclusion has now been made infamous by Trump - perverting what it means to be “included.” DEI has always been about giving marginalized populations a chance to excel - a chance that was never available before. It has never been about putting incompetent people in positions of power or authority as Trump and Musk would have people believe. DEI is about leveling the playing field, so that “certain” resumes don’t automatically go to the bottom of the pile. That women, minorities, gays and the disabled have an equal chance to thrive. And that is what has made America prosper.
The Marginalized Have a Voice Under DEI
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is about restoring dignity and voice to those once marginalized - giving them a coveted seat at the table. But Trump uses DEI as a pejorative, inferring anyone of color or immigrant status, woman, or gay is inherently unqualified. That assumption on his part, presupposes these folks are so “unqualified” they would not get the position unless the bar was lowered to “meet them where they are.” This president clearly displays a segregationist attitude, one that I recall led to a bloody Civil War. But the whole idea of the legislation and Constitutional amendments that followed Reconstruction after that war, was to prevent this inequity from ever happening again.
The Women’s Struggle
For too many years women had been singled out - seen but not heard; passed over time and again for promotions, and paid less than a man while doing the same job. Women and blacks were once seen as someone’s property interest - and not full persons in their own right. Until the passage of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974, a woman could not even do financial transactions on her own: she needed her husband's permission to open a bank account, apply for a credit card, or get a home loan. Just ten years before that, before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 became law, married female schoolteachers were forbidden to teach in public school classrooms - all because they may become pregnant, and no wanted wanted anyone to know.
And of course, it wasn’t until 1920 when the 19th Amendment was ratified, women finally got the right to vote - notably, black men had gotten that right four amendments before. (The 15th amendment giving black men the right to vote was ratified in 1870, fifty years before women got that same right ratified in 1920). Literally America, it took almost two centuries for diversity, equity and inclusion to finally come about. And then came the Nazi supporters…
Nazi Supporters Thrive in Oppression
These self-ascribed “alpha” men are looking to ameliorate their own despair at their own failures, to regain power and benefits they believe they subsequently lost or were “stolen.” They blame blacks, immigrants, women and other marginalized populations for their failures - instead of looking inside themselves. More troubling, their dark vision of themselves and their failures have been thrust upon America - with their leader in chief “beating the drum of discontent and blame,” even though that depiction of reality, is in contrast to the white-man’s historical truth.
We must never forget that World War II was fought because of intolerance for others. It was Germany who had become intolerant of the very same populations these MAGA men currently rebuke.
The MAGA’s blame DEI when it is expedient, but we know there is something more sinister afoot. The same populations were the target of vitriol by the Nazi’s that led to WII: Jews, Gays, disabled, immigrants, and those who lay witness to the atrocities they would commit. The old paradigm of discontent is at play: intolerance of others, belief that foreigners are polluting the gene pool, taking their wealth, their manhood, and their jobs.
Targets Then and Now
During WWII, we know, Jews were the specific targets of Nazi hate, ridicule and persecution, but others were included as well. Those who dared to speak out, were deemed the enemy of the people. Voices and opinions were silenced, and we see some of that now with the press…
During WWII, America and its European allies fought and died to eradicate fascism of Adolph Hitler during WWII. Deemed the “war to end all wars.” WWII was necessary to prevent radical ideologies from spreading like the plague. Spreading perverted ideologies of human “worthiness” and “worthlessness,” and alleged superiority of the “Aryan” race. Their goal was to indoctrinate all Germans, societies and the world.
Huge sacrifices were made by numerous European nations’ and America - both in human capital and monetarily. All of it to stop the Nazi regime rooted in Germany, from devouring other nations. The Nazi’s had patterned themselves after the fascist ideology pioneered by Italy’s Benito Mussolini during WWI. Both dictators shared the precepts of extreme nationalism, authoritarianism, suppression of opposition, and a strong focus on military power. For once, we must recognize this moment for what it is. Like our forebears who put NATO together, we must abide by our long-held principles of peace through strength and dignity, so that same atrocities that our forebears fought and died for during WWII, never repeat themselves again. For this precept, I am now weary…
How This All Ends
If history is to be our guide, it never ends well for those who claim the throne of subjugation. It got the Italian dictator Mussolini and his mistress killed by a firing squad - removed from their house and driven to the small village of Giulino di Mezzegra on the shores of Lake Como. They were ordered to stand in front of a stone wall at the entrance to Villa Belmonte. Both were executed by machine gun fire. The year was 1945.
That same year, Adolf Hitler, Chancellor and dictator of Nazi Germany committed suicide by a gunshot to his head. His suicide took place on April 30, 1945 in the Führerbunker in Berlin - two days after Mussolini was executed. It appears Hitler took his own life after it became clear that Germany would lose the Battle of Berlin - bringing WWII to a close in Europe. Notably, Hitler was 56 years old when he took his own life before others could oblige, and Mussolini was 61 when he succumb to a firing squad, shot and killed on April 28, 1945.
The Turnout - What Each One of Us Can Do…
So things don’t usually turn out well for tyrants, that is something history has repeatedly revealed. Yet once again, human cruelty, depravity, and greed is matched if not surpassed by the insatiable quest for self-enrichment by those who have too much - but believe it is never enough. As I said before, I know this type of person firsthand, their quest for power and control is infinite, but their fallibility is certain.
Trump may be the new petty tyrant at 78 going on 79, but if the pattern holds, and I believe it will, the trajectory of his place in history, will not end very well.
So the next generations of Americans can never forget, history is our best teacher. It is a roadmap from the past to the future. If we lose our perspective of where we came from, we invariably will lose perspective of where we are going. Humanity cannot afford to make those same mistakes again.
If you are concerned about the trajectory of this nation, contact your Congresspeople and implore them to protect democracy and the rights of the people. And join together groups like “Indivisible” in a community near you. People of red and blue states must stand united together - to save democracy, an idea once put in motion, made this great nation happen.
Yours in truth, justice, and preserving democracy,
