Project 2025 - A Republican ‘Heritage Foundation’ Nightmare in Waiting…

Project 2025 not only takes aim at Women’s Rights, Agencies that regulate our food, water, air - address Climate Change, Healthcare, Social Security & Medicare, Social Services including food stamps (at a time when food banks are already overburdened), while raising the retirement age for working Americans to qualify for Social Security. Remember it is your money you contributed over your lifetime in order to take out. It also directly takes aim at diversity, equity and inclusion - meaning those who don’t fit these “new” societal norms will be excluded from the fray. So if you are not heterosexual and you are not white, you will likely go to the end of the line when applying for a job or in college admission.

Of course this new look for America will be reminiscent of something old, where blacks were not treated as equals, were reduced to slavery, and gays had to hide. My understanding, was the purpose of the Civil War and Reconstruction was to free people from oppression - hence bringing forth the Fourteenth Amendment.

The actual text of the 14th Amendment Section 1, “Equal Protection Clause” states:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Because the Equal Protection clause was ratified in 1868, in the aftermath of the Civil War ending in 1865, it addressed: citizenship rights - including civil and political liberties:

The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was adopted on July 9, 1868, as one of the Reconstruction Amendments. Usually considered one of the most consequential amendments, it addresses citizenship rights and equal protection under the law and was proposed in response to issues related to formerly enslaved Americans following the American Civil War.

Specifically, according to Cornell Law School:

The Fourteenth Amendment addresses many aspects of citizenship and the rights of citizens. The most commonly used -- and frequently litigated -- phrase in the amendment is "equal protection of the laws", which figures prominently in a wide variety of landmark cases, including Brown v. Board of Education (racial discrimination), Roe v. Wade (reproductive rights), Bush v. Gore (election recounts), Reed v. Reed (gender discrimination), and University of California v. Bakke (racial quotas in education)….

So now that this Supreme Court has overturned the premise of Roe v. Wade, now deeming reproductive rights “unprotected” under the penumbre of privacy rights guaranteed under 14th Amendment - just think what else will be on the chopping block.

From all appearances, the Republican backed Heritage Foundation and Project 2025 “pro-life movement” is looking to enshrine “fetal personhood” into constitutionally protected rights - mandating forced pregnancies, which would be in lock-step necessitating removal of existing “privacy” rights which is likely to include the right to contraception (Griswold v CT) and other related rights. So working women who have delayed pregnancy and want to maintain control over when and how they plan their families; and minorities, people of color, and gays better take notice. Project 2025 has designations and repercussions for all of you in both civil society, the military and beyond.

What Does Project 2025 Mandate?

That all government agencies be directly under the “unitary executive” of the president - who would have absolute final control and say over every regulation allowed or removed - to hiring, firing and performance based upon loyalty to the chief executive.

All regulatory agencies would be included from the US Justice Department, to national security, to USDA and food crops, to CDC, to SEC, to the Treasury, to Energy - while disassembling the Department of Education, limiting federal funding of libraries and public media. Say goodbye to federal underwriting for PBS and NPR and others, as those are already mentioned in Project 2025 to be put on the financial chopping block, as are the books they profess are inherently “woke” which means having liberal underpinnings or views. Yet who determines what this amorphous term really means is not the point - but censorship is. PBS has more information on what Project 2025 would mean for the American public here.

And we cannot forget Project 2025 wants to Decimate the Department of Education.

Republican Project 2025 Manifesto Directs Defunding Public Programming

Here is an excerpt from page 246 of the Project 2025 Manifesto - clearly stating their Republican agenda be imposed on all Americans. They state they do not want any public monies going to PBS or NPR, on what they consider “liberal” or “mostly liberal” views - basically foisting censorship on the American people with their own tax dollars that is used to educate them on issues of vital importance. They state:

The reason is simple: President Lyndon Johnson may have pledged in 1967 that public broadcasting would become “a vital public resource to enrich our homes, educate our families and to provide assistance to our classrooms,”48 but public broadcasting immediately became a liberal forum for public affairs and journalism.

The Manifesto to Remove Rights and Impose Censorship states:

Conservatives will thus reward a President who eliminates this tyrannical situation. PBS and NPR do not even bother to run programming that would attract conservatives.

In other words, Project 2025 is positioned to impose censorship on viewpoints the far right does not endorse. A quick reminder - this is what the Nazi’s did.

The Effect of The Republican Project 2025:

It will allow the “unitary executive” if Trump is elected, to determine what the American public can see regarding any books and media including libraries that receive federal funding. This could potentially be expanded to prevent dissemination of information that the unitary executive and his officials find “offensive” and his team of loyalists (which is required for service in his administration), deem subversive - or in their words and view “tyrannical” to their 2025 plan for America.

Project 2025 Manifesto Wants to Direct What Foods Americans Can Eat

They also want Americans to buy whatever foods they deem appropriate. Promoting Genetically Altered Foods to be accepted, and without labeling, no one will know what in fact they are eating.

Here is what they state on page 307:

Remove Obstacles for Agricultural Biotechnology. Innovation is critical to agricultural production and the ability to meet future food needs. The next Administration should embrace innovation and technology, not hinder its use—especially because of scare tactics that ignore sound science. One of the key innovations in agriculture is genetic engineering. According to the USDA, “[C]urrently, over 90 percent of U.S. corn, upland cotton, and soybeans are produced using GE [genetically engineered] varieties.”112 Despite the importance of agricultural biotechnology, in 2016, Congress passed a federal mandate to label genetically engineered food.113 This legislation was arguably just a means to try to provide a negative connotation to GE food. There are other challenges as well for agricultural biotechnology. For example, Mexico plans to ban the importation of U.S. genetically modified yellow corn

They also state the next Administration should suppress information about genetically altered foods:

Counter scare tactics and remove obstacles. The USDA should strongly counter scare tactics regarding agricultural biotechnology and adopt policies to remove unnecessary barriers to approvals and the adoption of biotechnology.
Repeal the federal labeling mandate. The USDA should work with Congress to repeal the federal labeling law, while maintaining federal preemption, and stress that voluntary labeling is allowed. Use all tools available to remove improper trade barriers against agricultural biotechnology. The USDA should work closely with the Office of the United States Trade Representative to remove improper barriers imposed by other countries to block U.S. agricultural goods.

Page 308 They Propose to Decimate Forests with Impunity & Sell Timber for Profit Under the Guise of Helping Forests:

Increasing timber sales could also play an important role in the effort to change the behavior of wildfire because there would be less biomass. Timber sales and timber harvested in public forests dropped precipitously in the early 1990s and still remain very low. For example, in 1988, the volume of timber sold and harvested by volume was about 11 billion and 12.6 billion board feet (BBF), respectively.121 In 2021, timber sold was 2.8 BBF and timber harvested was 2.4 BBF.

In 2018, President Donald Trump issued Executive Order 13855 - falsely promoting “forest management and reduce wildlife risks” and “promoting active management of forests” which means they can do anything they want with the forests and timber - sell the timber and allow drilling on the cleared land.122

That executive order states they can do the above without any regulatory consultation requirements:

Active management of vegetation is needed to treat these dangerous conditions on Federal lands but is often delayed due to challenges associated with regulatory analysis and current consultation requirements.123

They further explain their need to reduce regulatory obstacles to fuel reduction in forests created by the National Environmental Policy Act and the Endangered Species Act.124

The next Administration should: Champion executive action, consistent with law, and proactive legislation to reduce wildfires. This would involve embracing Executive Order 13855, building upon it, and working with lawmakers to promote active management of vegetation, reduce regulatory obstacles to reducing fuel buildup, and increase timber sales.

For the record, that Trump Executive Order would greatly affect our public lands…

That Executive Order calls for the following cutting and selling its timber (and providing private contracts - which would allow drilling for oil and gas) under the guise of protecting against forest fires:

(A) Treating [meaning cutting] 3.5 million acres of Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service (FS) lands to reduce fuel load;
(B) Treating 2.2 million acres of USDA FS lands to protect water quality and mitigate severe flooding and erosion risks arising from forest fires; [note: cutting trees increases erosion of soil and creates instability in floods]
(C) Treating 750,000 acres of DOI-administered lands for native and invasive species;
(D) Reducing vegetation giving rise to wildfire conditions through forest health treatments by increasing health treatments as part of DOI's offering for sale 600 million board feet of timber from DOI-administered lands;

Imagine selling off all this timber for profit under the “guise” of forest management bypassing any oversight, and allowing private contracts to despoil the land. In an administration that emphatically states there is no such thing as climate change and has proposed to repeal all the Biden administration’s green energy initiatives - this is a blueprint for disaster.

And of course, there will be no programming on PBS or NPR to contradict the purpose, scope and effect of Trump’s 2025 initiatives.

In order to fool the American public, they coach this “forest management” information in the terms stated below:

(iv) Consider market conditions as appropriate when preparing timber sales, including biomass and biochar opportunities, and encourage export of these or similar forest-treatment products to the maximum extent permitted by law, in order to promote active forest management, mitigate wildfire risk, and encourage post-fire forest restoration;
(v) Develop recommended actions and incentives to expand uses, markets, and utilization of forest products resulting from restoration and fuel reduction projects in forests, rangelands, and other Federal lands, including biomass and small-diameter materials;
(b) Achieving the land management restoration goals set forth in section 2 of this order and reducing fuel loads by pursuing long-term stewardship contracts, including 20-year contracts, with States, tribes, non-profit organizations, communities, and the private sector, consistent with applicable law.

Bottom line, Trump and his henchmen are positioning themselves to control the American people, and sell off our nation’s natural resources and riches for their own benefit and personal wealth. They aim to plunder the earth, create more devastation, create vast overpopulation for an Earth that is already imperiled, but will expedite our demise and run itself dry through their insistence.

So if you value your rights, value this Earth, value God’s creations, value your choices in the food you eat, the people you marry, the families you grow - don’t vote against your interests. So:

Vote for Democrats who will protect this Earth and protect your rights - they have already proven this to be true;
And know, a vote in any other direction, will be one you will later regret.
