According to Book of 'Timothy' - Who is the Great American Deceiver & How Do We Know for Sure?
They will be boastful, arrogant, abusive, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, traitorous, reckless - we must recognize, and turn away!
As someone who often finds herself immersed in statutes, regulations and policy, I took a step back from the microcosm of jurisprudence to look at the macrocosm of universal truths - the Holy Bible. I scoured the pages and versions - looking for relevant Bible passages to find meaning in the dystopian reality I see unfolding in America and around the world. Whether it be the violent attacks on civilians in Israel, Gaza, Armenia, Ukraine or others - all of it is meant to unseat or exterminate those who pose an existential threat to the unfulfilled desires of those in power - but here in the US, that doctrine is inclusive of those seeking to regain power again.
In Search of Truth
In my quest for truth, I needed to identify a reasonable explanation for the escalation in worldwide atrocities, cruelties and depravities. To that end, I was drawn to what Mr. Trump envisioned during his inaugural speech, which he so “aptly” labeled as “American carnage” - the visual that would foreshadow much of, and specifically mark the wee hours of his presidency - January 6. To determine the “why,” I turned to one of the most revered books in the world - the Bible. But to ascertain its truest meaning, I looked to Bibles of different origin and interpretation - as it is universally accepted the original texts were first written in Hebrew, followed by Greek.
Upon my quest for inviolate “Biblical Originalism,” I noted several versions claiming to include both the original Hebrew and Greek as interlineations. One that captured my intrigue of which I was unfamiliar, was the Berean Standard Bible - a version boasting Biblical originalism through word clarity, and explanatory purpose. To enlighten me on the psychosocial aplomb of dictators, why these men are so drawn to the concept of their unitary power, I myself was drawn to one particular Book of the Bible - the Book of Timothy. For me, this Book fully encapsulates the etiology of this phenomenon, their singularity of purpose, their burning passion for power and control, and their lack of conscience - enabling them to be egotistical, self-righteous, and arrogant - even though their quest for self-enrichment, power and control would lead to civil unrest and hard times for their own nations, if not the world as a whole.
Evil in the Last Days - The Warning of Epistle, 2 Timothy 3
In my quest for understanding this singular vision, I found this Chapter clearly outlines the attributes that will lead to the downfall of the human race and of nations….
1But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come. 2For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, 4traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!
Dictators Exemplify these Attributes
As we have seen throughout history and even currently, the brutality of dictators illustrates the atrocities of Hitler and the annihilation of the Jews upon his quest for racial purity and world dominance - his singularity of purpose. We have also seen the brutality of the Russians through Vladimir Putin one of the richest men in the world with a bent towards pretextual justification for invading Ukraine, labeling it “Nazi cleansing” - while his true intent is land acquisition, warm-water port, power and dominance; not to trivialize their need for worldwide recognition by Putin himself as well as North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.
Stand Back and Stand By…
But what does this “exclusive club” of maniacal autocrats have in common? It is much more than what sets them apart. They are all billionaires with no conscience, no soul, no true belief in the teachings of religion, as exemplified how they subjugate others to extreme cruelties and even murder. All of it “justified” by “pretext” as to the source of their grievances - all of it subterfuge to hide their true intentions - more power, more control, and more money. And then there are those who “want to be dictators,” those who have not yet fulfilled that desire, but are most of the way there: no conscience, no soul, no true belief in religious tenets, hoards of money but still not enough, arrogant and envious of those who have absolute power and control - “aspiring,” to emulate true dictators - even posting on his own social media platform a photo of the current US president hog-tied with a bullet in his head, no doubt giving the green light to those of his followers to “stand back and stand by,” to take his opponent out.
As Americans, we cannot pretend we do not know who this person is…Currently, the only thing currently standing in his way, is that pesky annoyance called democracy and freedom. A experimental concept imbued not by our Creator, but our nation’s forefathers by means of our founding documents, our Constitution: bestowing liberties and freedoms, that “all men are created equal.” To challenge all we have been accustomed for nearly 250 years, is the rule breaker in-chief: Bible & sneaker merchant, fraudster, civilly affirmed rapist, and serial adulterer, candidate. Trump…
Evil Incarnate
In the ESV Bible 2 Timothy 3:6 illuminates this concept further…
In verses 2–5 Paul described the traits of evil people. He clearly taught Timothy to avoid those who claim to know God yet live in sinful ways. What Paul describes is a smaller group, within the previous category of wicked ones. Some, but not all, of these false teachers are involved in additional evil actions. Paul's description here suggests a con-man or swindler. He uses the Greek word aichmalōtizontes, which implies a "leading away," or a "taking captive." This implies one who turns a certain way of thinking into something else.
This probably involved scam artists and other thieves. It may have also meant those who physically seduced women. The idea of a false teacher taking advantage of women in their own homes would have been repulsive to Timothy and other believers.
These men are certainly targeting those who are vulnerable. The second half of this verse is constructed in Greek to show that the traits are about the same "weak women" Paul mentions. Such women are noted as having three concerns, two of which are listed in this verse. First, they were "burdened with sins." In other words, they had other sinful actions in their lives in addition to the problems brought upon them by false teachers. Second, these women were "led astray by various passions." These were likely not only referring to sexual passions, but to "various" areas of life in which weaknesses occurred.
As 2 Timothy 6-8 states:
6They [these con artists and liars] are the kind who worm their way into households and captivate vulnerable women who are weighed down with sins and led astray by various passions, 7who are always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.
8Just as Jannes and Jambres [two of the Egyptian magicians] opposed Moses,a so also these men oppose the truth. They are depraved in mind and disqualified from the faith. 9But they will not advance much further. For just like Jannes and Jambres, their folly will be plain to everyone.
The Warning
Putting this all in perspective, the Bible warns us that we must be vigilant to protect ourselves from those who seem to “embrace” God, but in fact are liars, con artists, deceivers, and traitors. This would include the presidential candidate hocking a Bible for his own self-gain and pretext of religious zealotry. These fraudsters lead all who are vulnerable (not just women) to be duped, to be lied to, and deceived. Folly is the enemy of all people - their foolishness will lead them and others to trouble. Those who have been warned by their own eyes and ears, yet still allow themselves to be deceived will be his first victims. The true reality, Politics is no stranger to deception - yet this is a whole other level.
Could it be that God is testing the moral compass of those who embrace a con artist, liar, and deceiver? Surely there is enough evidence for those who cavalierly follow his words. A man who demeans and defames women, mocks the handicapped, and demeans veterans who valiantly served our nation, is not of good ilk. Perhaps this is the time for those so quick to embrace their religious zealotry, to take heed of the plain words they claim to embrace. Clearly, many in this nation are susceptible to deception and are embracing the folly warned of in the Bible. The only question still unanswered is, Will the people of this nation - those being deceived, heed this scriptural warning before it’s too late???
